This week in class we began with our first weekly vocabulary quiz and then we began to focus on some basic mapping skills (packet is due Jan 29th). After that we started some activities to help us think like a geographer and we did some choropleth mapping to help begin learning about using data in geography. On Friday, we took our States and Capitals quiz.
Week #2 Vocabulary:
Spatial Perspective: A way of looking at the world and its population in relation to other places and groups.
Cardinal directions: The principle directions on a compass; the directions between these are known as intermediate or ordinal. International Dateline: 180˚ longitude; meridian that is the point where dates change. Map Projection: Different ways of showing the earth on a flat map. (ie. Mercator and Robinson Projection maps) Hemisphere: Half of the earth
