Week #16 Vocabulary:
Brandt Line: A theory that suggests primarily that a great chasm in standard of living exists between the North-South divide and advocates development of the Third World; the north is “rich” and the south is “poor.”
Pangaea: a supercontinent that existed during the late Paleozoic and early Mesozoic eras, forming approximately 300 million years ago.
Imperialism: Western political and economic dominance in the 19th and 20th centuries over other parts of the world.
Blood Diamonds: a diamond mined in a war zone and sold to finance an insurgency, invading army's war efforts, or a warlord's activity.
AIDS: a disease of the human immune system caused by infection with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV).
