Week #11: March 17th - March 21st

This week in class, we spent all of our time working on our next major assessment; the disaster project. We talked about how to research disasters as well as clean-up and innovation for the future. We also briefly reviewed presentation and powerpoint skills and lastly we talked a little about editing videos and photoshop/gimp.

Week #11 Vocabulary:
Environmental Protection Agency (EPA): an agency of the U.S. federal government which was created for the purpose of protecting human health and the environment by writing and enforcing regulations based on laws passed by Congress.
Eco Footprint: a measure of human demand on the Earth's ecosystems. It is a standardized measure of demand for natural capital that may be contrasted with the planet's ecological capacity to regenerate.
Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC): a permanent intergovernmental organization of 12 oil-exporting developing nations that coordinates and unifies the petroleum policies of its Member Countries.
Natural Disaster: a major adverse event resulting from natural processes of the Earth; examples include floods, volcanic eruptions, earthquakes, tsunamis, and other geologic processes.
Man-made Disaster: threats having an element of human intent, negligence, or error; or involving a failure of a human-made system. It results in huge loss of life and property.
